My Anime List for 2016

My Anime list for 2016

Now that 2016 is coming to a close, I decided to create a list (in no particular order) of anime I’ve watched or still watching from the past year. Note that there maybe be a few that have been released in previous years. I’m just listing what I’ve seen in 2016. I’ve put a brief summary in my anime list for 2016.

If you want more info or want to check them out, some of these can be viewed for free at Crunchyroll.com.

Bakuon!!

A comedy about a motorcycle club at an all-girls high school.

Bungo Stray Dogs

Nakajima Atsushi is living on the streets after being kicked out of his orphanage. While down on his luck and starving, he encounters Dazai Osamu (who happens to have a thing about committing suicide). It turns out that Dazai is a member of the “Armed Detective Agency”. An organization that solves/investigates mysteries and phenomenon that even the police or military won’t touch.

Flying Witch

This is a slow-paced slice of life about a teenage witch that moves in with her cousin’s house in the country as the new witch for the area. It’s not a “fast-paced” or “action filled” type of show. It’s more of a light comedy. Quite relaxing actually.

God Eater

Like the video game, it’s a sci-fi/action that shows the desperate battle between humans and monsters known as “Oracle Cells”. The most effective way to fight them is to use the “God Arcs”. A living weapon that incorporates the very same Oracle cells in the monsters.

… or you can play the video game 😛

RE:Zero

Imagine you’re transported to a different world where if you die (just you), you would start over from your last save point like a video game. Would be cool, right? Well, it happens to Natsuki Subaru. Sure, the “Transported to another world” has been done before, but this one had me eager to see the next one and praying that there’s another season when it was done.

Asterisk War (First Season)

This is a magical/sci-fi/harem anime. It feels like it’s well put together in story and animation. I watched the first season and a bit of the second. Somehow I feel like the second season is more of the same. Will see how it turns out.

Ushio and Tora

I first watched the six-episode series when it came out in 1992 and was sad it stopped so early in the story. Now that it’s been airing as a television series in 2015, I got all excited again. I get to see Ushio wield the “Beast Spear” with his monster friend and kick butt. There are some slight changes to the story to modernize it for the 21st century. (The addition of cell phones, personal computers, etc…)

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma

This is a high school/cooking/competition type anime where Yukihira Soma is determined to surpass his father’s cooking skills. Before he can even think of that, he needs to graduate from the elite culinary school where the graduation rate is only at 10 percent.

Show By Rock!!

After being transported to a world where Musical Superstardom is everything, Cyan has the dilemma of trying to get back home or joining a rock band. She chooses the rock band of course! Good to see that she has her priorities straight.

Erased

Satoru Fujinuma experiences the strange ability where he is transferred back in time to his younger self before a something life-threatening happens. (Usually by just a few minutes.)  The problem is that it keeps happening until he eliminates the threat. Now he’s being framed for the murder of his mother and it all started with events that took place during his pre-teen self! Watch it now on Crunchyroll while it’s still free!

Gate

What happens when a magical “Gate” opens up in the middle of a city and out comes a legion of ancient roman like troops with magical beasts start attacking the population? You bring out the giant can of woop-ass and retaliate with the full brunt of modern weaponry and tactics, that’s what.

So there you go. A brief summary of anime I checked out in 2016. I’m sure there still a few I’ve missed. Let me know if you think there’s any I should check out in the comments. Thanks.
